Using and Applying CANSLIM as developed by William J. O'Neil
For those that want to select individual stocks for their investing portfolio, but have not read Mr. O'Neil's book "How To Make Money In Stocks", then it is a must read. CANSLIM is not for all investors, and it requires you to do your homework if you are to be successful. But properly applied and with good discipline, you can profit from it. Given 100 different investors all using CANSLIM, it's likely there will be nearly 100 different interpretations, opinions and applications. I prefer microcaps and small caps, some investors only want big caps. You can use CANSLIM in virtually any arena to improve your stock selection and timing.

Why a Home Page, and Why Now?
One enjoyable aspect of working in the securities industry for the past ten years (aside from seeing the Dow 30 break 1000 for the first time) was helping people learn, be they other brokers or my clients. For the past two years, I participated in an active online discussion group where my 40 years of investing (yeah, started when I was 10), combined with my knowledge of both the securities industry and how it works, as well as my years of using CANSLIM, helped many members. But my watch list of small companies, all CANSLIM based, is not universally applicable. Thus, a home page so those who have the interest can browse away without boring the ones that only want big cap stocks. I also have a strong interest in economics, and this will be another feature where I can share my thoughts and understanding of the effects of economics on the stock market.

Personal Interests and Short Biography
As a 51 year old widower living in Miami, Florida my interests are pretty sedate. I enjoy sailing, having first learned this skill at the US Coast Guard Academy. My family lived aboard a 44 foot motor sailer for several years and enjoyed several long cruises in the Bahamas. I also am an avid reader of novels, purely recreational. And I enjoy stock picking, that is probably my passion. I share my home with four cats, three of which forced their way into my life. I watch little TV, mostly cop shows, as I spend most of my free time on the internet.
